Welcome to the new Ornithopter Research Group forum 
An ornithopter is an aircraft that sustains flight solely by means of flapping wings.
The focus of the Ornithopter Research Group is MANNED ornithopter research.
No manned ornithopter has yet sustained flight. The purpose of this forum is to advance our knowledge of manned, flapping wing flight and to achieve sustained, contollable, flight in a full-size, manned, true ornithopter. [ ie: flapping wings only, no fixed wings, jet engine assist etc.]
The forum is divided into 6 sections:
1] MANNED ORNITHOPTERS ......... Manned ornithopter research, design, construction,
flight testing, test-pilot training and safety.
2] ORNITHOPTER AERODYNAMICS
3] ORNITHOPTER TEST MODELS .......... Proof-of-concept models [ used to test
concepts, designs etc for manned ornithopters]
4] FLAPPING FLIGHT IN NATURE ........... Natural flapping flight: Birds, Bats,
Flying Insects, Pterosaurs.
5] FLAPPING FLIGHT : GENERAL ...........Flapping Flight: Miscellaneous Topics
6] GENERAL : MISCELLANEOUS. ...........Any Topic.

Full-size, MANNED ornithopter research is the sole focus of this forum .
